New Virus Takes a Bite out of the Porn Industry

In an ironic twist of fate, a new virus has been discovered which prays upon users visiting the porn industry, known as the Need for Change virus.
The virus represents a new breed of viruses, in that it is believed the virus downloads as a JPG file, and then another file later downloads and renames the original JPG file. JPG (Jpeg) files are used to hold images and pictures – the porn industry is an idea target for the virus since many of the introductory screens on porn sites download a large amount of JPG or other image files, thus giving the virus a relatively easy place to hide unnoticed.
The virus is relatively safe, except for a certain level of embarrassment the owner of the virus might experience. Once the virus has been triggered a coin box intermittently appears on the screen indicating how much “time” a person has spent clicking on porn sites.
“Time” is initially measured in 1 cent per click intervals, which later jump to 5 cent per click, then 10 cents per click, 50 cents per click and then $1 per click.
The virus is difficult to identify because after displaying the coin box, the virus renames itself and slightly modifies its code making it difficult for traditional virus checking programs to identify it.
The virus has also been known to intermittently scan ones address book and send out random emails indicating how much “time” a person has been spending clicking on porn sites, and identifies itself by stating that there is a Need for Change.
The fear of being found out has created an obvious decline in usage of porn sites.
However, not to be beaten out by a virus, it has been suggested that porn sites might try to lure their customers back by indicating, that there is: NO NEED TO CHANGE!
In a further ironic twist to the story, software houses producing filters against porn sites have indicated an increase in requests for a Need for Change filter to dissuade members of their families from visiting porn sites.
Thus, making the line between what is real and what is virtual even blurrier.
