Guys,

Before I start, I am lower than all of you and done worse things than most of you and have no right to preach to anybody.

This is post for someone who has internet at home and at the office. (Not people who work or wives work from home as I am in no position to comment on this situation)

But here are my feelings,

We have been posting here for months & Years our failing and successes with internet use and addiction. Some people have filters and it does not help and some do not. We all agree most of the times maybe 95% of the times we fall it is at a weak moment at home, tired, hard day at work, wife nidda etc.

Yet we still have internet in our homes regardless of our hundreds and hundreds of falls. |Despite the years of our life we spend by the screen on complete nonsense.

I have talked myself for years into believing I need internet at home (in addition to at the office). Loads of reasons too many to mention. I had internet from the first year of marriage. I tremble when I look back and think how I  wasted years of my life in Eretz yisroel sitting by the computer screen. Who knows where I would be now if I would have resisted the temptation and not signed up.
So for years I have been saying, it is too late, I am that sort of baal haboss who has internet, learns an hour a day and that's it, after all I need the internet at home .......

Bottom line is how many of these reasons are really valid reason. Maybe one or two if any! How Stupid will we look after 120 when we try and waffle through our excuses why we needed our internet at home, how embarrassed will we be when we list out our reasons, then displayed to your whole family what you actually did on the internet on the big screen. How you wasted years of your life at home by the screen, time that could have been spent learning or with family. The shame!!

Let us be completely honest - every second we have the internet at home we are putting ourselves and our future at risk. How many times can Hashem say to us - you are forgiven, you are forgiven. At one point he will say enough is enough. Payback time. Yesh Din Veyash Dayan. There will come a time we need to answer for our stupidity.

For what are we ruining our families and our future for? To make a little more money, too browse news, do do online banking. For this we are ruining the kedusha in our homes Do we need to wait for the bad news of something that has gone wrong in our business or in our families to start thinking, what did I do to deserve this.
Why wait, why take the risk. How long can we say I will change, I will be okay, Hashem knows I can’t help it.

Let us do something before it is too late. Let us be completely honest, can I survive without the internet in the house, will it ruin my life to remove it....

Just imagine if we make a sincere commitment and take action now that this box will be removed from my house for good, imagine how this could change your life, change your pesak din, prevent bad gezeiros from ourselves and family.
It is nearly erev yom kippur, if not now maybe we will lose the chance forever.

I didn't do the jump immediately. 3 weeks ago I took the router to my office and left it there.  It has changed my life, I find I have time at home, something I never had before, I am going to shacharis at a normal time in the morning, started learning before shacharis. Trust me I am no tzaddik far from it. but this is something that had to be done.
Enough is enough,
We want Hashem to treat us like his children come Yom Kippur, why should he even look our way when we have the router sitting at home, it is like toveling vsheretz beyodo. Forget the frumkiet it is TRUE! It is like walking into court with the murder weapon in our hand.

We need to change, we need the tsoros to stop. Atah Vechartonu mikol haamim, look at ourselves how different are we??
When Leiby Kletzky was niftar, I was wondering how could a jew do such a thing, a yid is supposed to be a rahcamon, what happened to the essence of a Jew. When the personal life of the murderer came out a lot was said about his television, and the sites he visited on the computer, including pop idol, his facebook page, his non jewish music, and his comedy shows.
Then I started thinking, how different is he to the goyim out there, the answer is he isn't, he wasn't different! He lost his jewishness, he became a cold blooded murderer, he acted like goyim act, because he behaved like a goy.
I was thinking, how many of us are following these non-jewish cultures, How many times to we check up on the progress of the completely ridiculous reality shows,  are we loosing our jewish identity? Can we do things a holy yid shouldn't be able to do.....

Tomorrow I am calling up my internet provider and cancelling for good. I am publicizing this so I don't get the yetzer hora to change my mind. I will confirm tomorrow it has been done.

Maybe someone out there has a cheshek to do similar.

Develop success from failures. Discouragement and failure are two of the surest stepping stones to success.

I have done it, internet will be disconnected in 7 days.
Doesn't feel good, feel a little sick in the stomach, but BEH we should see more siyata dishmaya in our home, something that has been missing for some time, despite davening hard for it.

Anyone else who wants to take this bold step, please post and give others chizuk.
