struggle,

first of all, welcome to the forum!

Just being here, and belonging to this amazing family will help you inyour struggles!

Your kabala is a good start, and it will lead to you having the strength to kick this, one step at a time.

All Hashem expects of you is to make an honest and slow effort. Soon enough you will have reached the top of the ladder!

If I can ever be  of assistance to you (or anyone else in this family of ours) please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

____

Letakain21: what an awesome Kabalah! It is indeed a massive chilul Hashem how chareidim on planes or on vacation etc. seem to think that Hashem did not come along with them!

I too used to do these things, and  Hashem has allowed me to do teshuva. Hopefully  everyone else will have the same zechus soon enough.

That's a truly amazing kaballah in light of the horrid habit of even charedim and heimishe people atching movies - the chillul hashem..oy

Why do some otherwise Frum people watch movies on long flights?  Maybe they rely on "Lo Bashamayim Hee."

Mevakesh,

I realized on Thursday that I wasnt take this seriously enough. Thats one of the reasons I stayed off line  Thurs and Friday. I had said Id cut down comp and kalus rosh. I tried.

Truth is, I have seriously considered getting rid of internet totally a few times. Most times I chickened out, but once or twice actually called the server. They gave me such a hard time though (no way to do it while still under contract, will pay high knus etc) so I gave in. Also,I really was addicted to internet.

But now, I spend 98% of my time on GUE or email and almost NEVER go to other sites any more. Id like to take the plunge. I think I need it as part of my teshuva process

Problem is, that would mean no more GUE....

Id appreciate opinions and advice....

Thanks in advance,
7up

WHAT???  :o  :o    :o

7Up, Do you know how many people your posts and your warmth and caring and wisdom and advice and  ...and ...and ....are saving from sin? Do you think stopping to post here would be part of your Teshuvah process? I think that it's the other way around - 360 degrees!

end of discussion.

7up, I agree with R. Guard.  All of us who encourage others are involved in Kiruv - why would you want to give it up?

Still, you should do this on your own terms.  For example, you could post on GYE during set times, and/or you could use a filter that only allows predetermined sites (i.e. a whitelist).

7Up, I agree with the others; you've been helping so many people get back on their feet. Who's to replace your encouraging words? Aside from the general users of this site, the women rely on your support and many of us men are incapable of giving it. The plunge is important, but please consider using a "whitelist" and enabling GUE.

Thanks for your opinions everyone.
I really am torn about this. K9 filter doesnt work as it keeps uninstalling itself (Im dan l'kav zchus family members :-\), but the fact is that I have unfiltered internet in my house. I no longer feels pulled to it bH.

A white list server is not a real option. I dont have the money for it and cant justify the expense. My husband would just tell me to cancel the internet, end of problem.

Im so torn...

Do you mind telling me what kind of router you have? I may be able to help you configure a whitelist without needing to install any software. In addition, if K9 doesn't work for you, I can find another software that does. When it comes to "whitelisting", they are all equally strong.

Thanks Tomim.

You are speaking to a real comp dummy. My son is the pro (and the one disconnecting the filters?)
I have no idea what I have!
I have close connections to one of the white list servers in America who would give it to me no proble. Will that work if Im here in Israel?
