GuardYourEyes's Annual High-Holiday Campaign

Dear members,

We've just launched our once-a-year campaign so we can continue fighting the battle of Kedusha on all fronts and get thousands of Yidden back on track.

We had an explosive year of growth with more new members than any previous years. We currently have 20,000 members, but we know this is a drop in the ocean compared to the real need.

This year we are relying on your help more than ever. We have a plan to take our work to a whole new level to meet the challenge. But to do this, we must raise $250,000 between now and Yom Kippur so that we can:

  • Get an additional 5,000 new members in the next 12 months with new advertising.

  • Hire additional full-time staff to provide members with individual guidance and support.

  • Produce a new 90-day recovery program to double our effectiveness.

Rabbi Dr. Abraham Twerski is taking a lead role in our campaign this year, and as a small gesture of gratitude, he’ll send an autographed copy of his latest book, Teshuvah through Recovery (written together with GuardYourEyes) to partners who give $500 or more.

Please think about this: Can there be a greater zechus for the days of judgment than having a significant share in the Teshuvah of thousands?

Noticeable Progress

By An Honest Mouse

Hi, GYE!

This is 'an honest mouse' here. Following from your recent chizuk email about being in touch to explain how we have grown in the past year, I just wanted to be in touch to say thanks.

After around 20 years of progressively worse behaviours with porn, masturbation, voyeurism and stalking I finally contacted GYE Help Line to set out my actual behaviours and they recommended live SA meetings. I was so scared, I even cried a little before my first meeting, as I realised there was no turning back.

But boy, how I wish I had gone earlier! Over the past 20 years I could rarely last more than 2/3 weeks without acting out. I had seen two separate therapists for 2 years each - nothing helped, and it was getting progressively worse and risky. Now, since 12 October last year, after a few weeks of finding my stride, I have only had 6 days without sobriety. Completely unimaginable before SA. But more than that, I have more self confidence, serenity, a better relationship with my wife, and I am accomplishing more at work - I am actually changing and growing in noticeable ways. I am so grateful, and I would definitely agree with the 12 step program adage, 'I prefer the worst days of recovery to my best days of acting out.' I am learning the tools to deal with life's ups and downs without escaping to my old drug.

GYE is such a great resource, I've made some real close friends here and feel that we are really growing together. Finally, words can't express my gratitude to Dov for opening my eyes with his unashamed, persistent, truthful, and blunt descriptions of the process of real change and real recovery.

Thanks to everyone involved and wishing everyone in the GYE community a kesiva vechasima tova and a year of health, recovery and serenity!

Surviving the Yomim Noraim as a Frum Addict

A recording of a Shiur/Workshop by Dov, who is sober in SA for more than 18 years, which took place on Sept. 30, 2016/

Dov writes:

"Are your Yomin Noro'im colliding with your Recovery...or perhaps with your Problem? Do you feel too terrified of your sins to have room to survive a proper Yomim Noro'im - or perhaps you can't see why you need the Yomim Noro'm, given the fact that you are finally recovering without all that 'sin business' and are afraid Yomim Noro'im will pull you back into your old ways or addiction? This call is be"H for you."

Just another year? Not this time!

By Michael

By GYE Member

"Another year is ending now. Just one like all the others..." That's what I used to feel every year, when its end was imminent. One more year that I thought I would stop to watch porn, to masturbate myself, and... nothing. I expected hopeful to a new year, but deep inside me I knew that it would be exactly the same thing, that nothing would change...

Well, this year was definitely different. Thanks to G-d, I found your website, and through your help I felt what I had for so long forgotten. Hope.

Thank G-d, I am now almost 60 days clean, and I have plenty of trust in Him that He will help me never need to restart my "cleanliness counting" anymore. For the first time in my whole life, I am ending the year with real hope that the next year will be great! I know I'm full of sins, and that I don't deserve a good new year... But at least once in my life I know I am coming to Rosh Hashanah with something in my hands.

I have no words to express my gratitude to GYE... You're all great Tzaddikim!
May Hashem give us, to all the GYE community and team, a wonderful new year, full of Mitzvos and real progress!
