Mrs. Shaw will work with the spouse of the addict, by providing supportive psychotherapy and helping them through their own recovery process and relationship issues. In addition, she will work with the couple for marital counseling, as long as the addict is receiving outside treatment in addition. Malka has advanced training in Family Systems, Marital Therapy, CBT and trauma recovery.
Mrs. Shaw has received Post Graduate training at the Neve Yerushalim Institute located in Jerusalem, Israel. Her training focused on Family System Theory, with additional coursework in Marital Therapy. (2000-2001) Following her work in Israel, Mrs. Shaw worked for OHEL Children’ Home and Family Services located in Borough Park, Brooklyn. Her role was of both Clinical Social Worker and coordinated the Independent Living Program. (2001-2005) Currently, she has a private practice five minutes outside of the Passaic/Clifton Community. Her practice is primarily comprised of Orthodox clientele. Her practice focus is women’s issues, including working with the wives of men who suffer from sexual addictions.
