I am well-acquainted with the disease model of addictions upon which AA and other anonymous groups are based. I have seen how important a strong fellowship and commitment to abstinence is for recovery. I believe that lust- or any other addiction is based on a lack of a sense of well-being, psychological dependence upon some outside force to feel good, and, worst of all, a sense of meaninglessness in life. I believe the goal of addiction therapy is to help the client discover that it is worthwhile to fight for his life and and his values. Together with attendance at a good anonymous meeting such as SA, I believe that addictions therapy is a very powerful and effective experience.
