Mishna for 12-Steppers
We see in this משנה, that רבי says that when we look at those three things, then we won't get to an עבירה.
Before we go any further, we have to understand the meaning of עבירה.
The world עבירה would be best understood with the translation of "Crossing boundaries."
When a person keeps on crossing one boundary after another, then it's called doing an עבירה.
Now, רבי is going to teach us how to avoid crossing one boundary after another.
Getting to the realization that there is someone above us with more power than anything within ourselves. Finally understanding that we can't control others and can't control ourselves without the help of the One Above us Who has the power.
Being grateful and thankful for the fact that we have eyes that see and ears that hear.
And realizing that we are not the ones who created our eyesight and the power of hearing, it is all from the One Above Who shows us His love for us all the time.
And we should start writing down exactly where we are standing in the world.
What our wrongs are and what our rights are. Whom we had hurt and whom we made feel good. What our defects are and what our improvements are.
When we get to the point of
1- understanding and realizing that Hashem is the One Above us Who controls everything around us,
2- and we understand that Hashem gives us what we need and we feel His love towards us,
3- and we make an inventory of what we are all about -
then, we will start loving ourselves, and we will get a closer connection to Hashem and start living an enjoyable and exciting life with a purpose. Then, we won't have to cross any boundaries, and we won't keep on doing what we call עבירות anymore.
Surrender your Power
- Write it out
