At some point in the addict’s life, the addiction worked. The addiction provided the addict with something, it satisfied some inner craving, and helped the addict maintain emotional equilibrium. At some point, the slave became the master and it no longer worked.

Together with my client, I try to discover what it was they were after, a feeling of comfort or security perhaps, and we endeavor to find other means of achieving this goal.

I am trained in a variety of approaches to addiction relief, including 12-steps and CBT.
