  • Intervention Model

CBT, DBT, Trauma based (Pia Melody and Bessel van Kolk methods) with exploration of Family of Origin roots and the development of Negative Core Beliefs, 12 Step compatible, mindfulness techniques and utilization of the core tasks as described by Partick Carnes and others (Facing the Shadow). I Offer individual, couple and group therapy (client centered). Goal of therapy is to integrate the struggle of addiction into spiritual or religious ideals desired by the addict or partner. Early phase of theray centers on obtaining abstinance from bottom line behaviors (acting out and codependancy). Intermediate phase therapy focuses on moving from abstinance to sobriety and early recovery. Advanced phase therapy seeks to establish and maintain meaningful recovery with emphasis on relational connections, development of intimacy and ability to bond with others. Certain concepts are introduced early then developed more deeply as the therapeutic process progresses. For example, the issue of TRUST is a topic that is generically introduced early in the process and as recovery ensues, trust is broken down into its building block components to give the participant a deeper understanding of what trust is all about. The sessions are supplemented with occasional excercises to bring the knowledge gained into a personal experiential realm that can be internalized. But we need to get real; the person reading this is most likely at the beginning stages of the progress. My message to you is simply to know that help is available in ways that was inconceivable less than a decade ago. What once seemed a hopeless obsession into a dark world that made no sense has been in many cases transformed into a happy and meaningful journey through life. You will be a better person because of the experience and not in spite of it.
