The Day of Hod Shebeyesod

Dear Friends,

This week is the week of Yesod in the Sefirat HaOmer, which corresponds to the rectification of the holy bris. Tomorrow, Wednesday May 20, is Yesod SheBeyesod. This is a very auspicious day for helping ourselves and helping others in these areas.

It is also the very last day to join our raffle to help tens of thousands of Jews to break free of kedushah struggles, with a chance to win $100,000 and many other prizes! (Live drawing is May 21st. Last chance to join is tomorrow, May 20th, 12pm!).

Don't miss this auspicious day!

Tonight, Yesod SheBeyesod, is also the Yartzeit of the holy Rav Shlomo from Ze'vil.

eyesOfPure

Rav Shlomo had open Ru'ach Hakodesh and extremely holy vision. He worked his whole life on the aspect of holiness and purity amongst Yidden and with his own hands--and at his own expense--he built many Mikva'os in Eretz Yisrael. It was also known that he would achieve many miracles and salvations for Klal Yisrael through his immersions in the Mikvah. The previous Belzer Rebbe, R' Ahron Rokeach, who also had open Ruach Hakodesh, called R' Shlomo the "Tzadik Yesod Olam" during his lifetime (before he passed away on Yesod ShebeYesod). It seems clear that R' Shlomo had a soul that was connected to the aspect of "Yesod" - which represents "Shmiras Habris".

In his merit, may we all merit to guard our eyes and achieve true holiness and purity. A donation in his merit will surely bring you much blessing!

P.S. We invite you to watch the live drawing on Thursday here.

Yesod - The Foundation By Yaakov from GYE

Sexuality and love are the deepest human emotions and therefore, fixing these emotions fixes a person deeper than anything else. That's why in Kabbalah, the Sefirah of "Yesod" refers to the Brit. "Yesod" means "foundation". Guarding the Brit is the foundation of Judaism.

The positive commandments of the Torah are like a building. The negative commandments, what we don't do, what's underground, what people don't see - that's the foundation of the entire building. If the foundation is weak, then the whole building is in danger of falling.

No matter how much Torah and Mitzvos a person has, if one is not careful in guarding the foundation, then even a weak wind can knock down the tallest building. But if the foundation is strong, then the building will last no matter what it looks like above ground, and no matter how strong the winds blow.

The Day of Hod Shebeyesod By HopeSeeker

A member wrote to us today:

Today is hod shebeyesod in the sefira count. I won't pretend I understand what that really means. But it resonated for me, on my simple level.

Yesod refers to building the foundation of our lives: kedushas habris. And Hod is hodaah, expressing our gratitude to Hashem for all we have.

Hod shebeyesod is perhaps about coming to kedusha through gratitude. (It is known that gratitude is a foundation of recovery from addiction).

So, in a way I have never done before, I thank You Hashem!

Thank You for being with me during these times. For keeping me (and the rest of my family) healthy and well despite the dangers of the virus. Thank You for giving me a good place to live, nice food to eat, enough money to get by. Family to support me and friends to connect with. Places to go, stimulating things to keep me occupied. Thank You for giving me new strength and chizuk in kedusha through GYE and in other ways. You give me everything I need, in every area of life! Even in the tough areas, if I look well enough I realize I need them too. They force me to grow and to bring myself closer to You.

How can I not go around not feeling joyful when I am so enveloped in Your kindness? And with all You do for me, knowing I am being carried by You every moment - how can I take this body and use it against You? Even as I fell You kept on carrying me onward! But... my body is so heavy and forgetful and my yetzer so full of wily tricks and sheker. So I beg You: please help me to live with true, deep awareness of Your kindness. Even if I fail to appreciate them fully, even though I do not deserve them, please keep showering me with all Your blessings. Send me the courage to surrender my 'need' to act out. Guide me to the actions I need to keep myself holy and to spiritual ways of filling myself up. And above all: please help me to remember that honestly, I can't do it without You.

May this prayer be not just for me but for all my fellow members and partners on GYE. Please bless all the good yidden out there who just want to do Your will but can sometimes find it so hard. Help us feel Your goodness and Your unfailing love. Lift us up to kedusha so that we rise above the smallness of the yetzer hara. Bring us close, bring us home.

Thank You.
